Another delay

Hi everyone. I'm still in Cambridge. We have a flight scheduled for Wednesday at 7:55 AM. It's anyone's bet as to whether we'll be able to leave though. I spent Saturday wandering around Cambridge just enjoying the wonderful weather. It's been sunny and very pleasant. Our group is very fortunate that we were able to extend out hotel rooms. We are not wanting for anything except a flight home.

It's spring here and many of the plants are beginning to bloom. Gardening is a very popular activity here.

This is one of the many churches here in the UK. The picture doesn't really show you how large it really is.

On Sunday we went to see Stonehenge. It is located in the middle of a sheep farm way out in the middle of nowhere. However, it is a really popular tourist attraction and they bring them in by the bus load.

Hopefully this situation will clear soon and we'll be on our way back.

Still in Cambridge

Hello everyone. Yes, I'm stranded in the UK because of the volcano eruption in Iceland. I've got a flight out on Saturday afternoon. Here are a couple more pictures. Lots of steeples and clocks.
This is the backside of Kings College.
Lots of statues.

I think this church was built in the 1100's. Be back on Saturday.

Again from UK

Everything is going well. I was able to get out again last night and take a few more pictures. Anybody know what kind of bird this is? It swims but it doesn't have web feet.
This is the back side of Kings College. It's really impressive. They wouldn't let me onto the campus because it was after 5:30. Which reminds me...most of the shops close at 5:30. It's going to be tough buying souvenirs.
There's a canal that runs through most of the campus which has a lot of punting traffic. Punting is the boat that is propelled by someone with a pole. It's really popular but looks like a lot of work to me.

Towers, sprirals, and chimneys with lots of narrow streets. Lots to see. I'll fly home on Friday. See you soon.

Trip to England

Hey everyone, I arrived in England on Sunday morning 11:15 AM (5:15 AM CST) after an all night flight. I didn't get a lot of sleep partly because the sun was rising about 1:30 AM CST. Cambridge is loaded with historic buildings, shops, pubs, etc. but I have managed to get out and take a couple pictures. Below is Newton's bridge. Apparently it was an engineering marvel when it was originally built.
This is King's college. It's a very impressive building with hugh towers on each side. This is the side that faces the down town area. I'm hoping to get to the other side tonight. It really is big.
This is the view from my hotel. Very nice.

I don't have internet at the hotel. Well, just say I'm to cheap to pay for it at the hotel. I'll try to post some more pictures tomorrow.
